April 3, 2023How We Serve Our Community with Orlando PrEP Medications
May 4, 2023We don’t want cost to keep you from getting the healthcare you need. That’s why our clinics offer no-cost STI tests in Orlando, Tampa, and Kissimmee!
Your sexual health is just as important to your overall well-being as staying active, eating nourishing food, and minding your mental health. At Harmony Healthcare Orlando, our dedicated staff wants to make it simple for you to get regular STI tests as part of your healthcare routine! As we prepare for STI Awareness Week, here are some STI facts that serve as excellent reminders to get tested.
We recognize STI Awareness Week each year during the second week of April. We strive to raise awareness about the impact of STIs and decrease the stigma that can be associated with them. The CDC estimates that 20% of the U.S. population has had an STI, and STIs cost the American healthcare system almost $16 billion.
GYT! (Get Yourself Tested)
Each year, the CDC comes up with fun new ways to put the spotlight on STI testing. #GYT encourages everyone to get tested and discuss their sexual health with their partners.
The #GYT website presents the following facts to remind us how important it is to get tested regularly.
- Almost half of new STI infections in 2018 were among people ages 15-24.
- Using a condom every time you have sex or sexual contact with your partner can lower your risk of infection.
- Most STIs are spread by vaginal and anal sex without a condom.
- Birth control does not stop the spread of STIs.
Talk. Test. Treat.
STI Awareness Week is here to remind us that open communication is key to staying healthy and happy. The Talk Test Treat campaign encourages everyone to have a chat with their healthcare provider about their sexual history and activity. Let’s also remember to talk to our partners about practicing safe sex. And don’t forget, finding no-cost STI tests in Orlando is easy! If needed, treatment options are available too. #TalkTestTreat
These are good reminders year-round! We’re here to have the conversations that facilitate your ongoing sexual health.
Prepare Before You’re There
We love this fun way to be proactive and intentional about your sexual health! Prepare Before You’re There includes an interactive quiz to gauge your risk of contracting an STI. Here’s a peek at some of the questions on the quiz:
- Have any of your partners had an STI?
- Have you or any of your partners ever used illicit substances?
- Is it possible that any of your sex partners in the past 12 months has had sex with someone else while they were still in a sexual relationship with you?
The quiz is super easy and straightforward! It’s packed with helpful tips as you go along, and at the end, you get a game plan that shows how to lower your risk and take care of yourself preventatively.
Harmony Healthcare Orlando Is STI-Aware Every Week!
While it’s important to focus on STI awareness during the week the CDC sets aside each year, we want to encourage conversation, prevention, and treatment for STIs year-round. That’s why our STI tests in Orlando, Tampa, and Kissimmee are always available at no cost to you.
Our healthcare providers are available to discuss your health needs, and if treatment is necessary, we can provide that too. The good news about getting tested every year is that even if you get a positive test result, STIs are 100% treatable (and most are curable)!
But you don’t know what you don’t know, right? Contact us today to discuss your healthcare needs! Our dedicated and compassionate staff wants to help you take charge of your sexual health so that you know if and when you need treatment.
