Do I need insurance to receive gender affirming care?

There is a fee for your office visit that includes the cost of your office visit and any necessary lab work. If you wish to see us for care but do not have insurance or the ability to pay the total cost of the visit, you should contact our office and speak with our Gender Affirming Care Coordinator for options.

Once our healthcare provider has completed all necessary screenings to begin HRT, you will be provided with a prescription to take to the pharmacy. While our services do not require insurance, pharmacies and outside providers may need it for medications and additional care.

What is the process for starting Hormone Replacement Therapy?

To begin Hormone Replacement Therapy at Harmony Healthcare, you will first undergo a comprehensive evaluation by our healthcare provider, which includes:

• Detailed medical history
• Physical examination
• Necessary lab tests

Therapy and counseling are referred to a mental health counselor or a psychiatrist if this evaluation is needed.

The provider also reviews any paperwork or consent required by the Florida Board of Medicine.

Once these steps are completed and it’s determined that HRT is appropriate for you, we will develop a personalized treatment plan and provide you with a prescription.

How often do I need to visit the clinic for HRT monitoring?

After starting Hormone Replacement Therapy, you will need to visit the clinic periodically for monitoring. These visits allow your healthcare provider to check your hormone levels, assess any side effects, and adjust your medication dosage if necessary. 

Over time, as your levels stabilize, the frequency of visits may decrease. Regular monitoring is crucial to ensure the treatment is effective and safe as part of your ongoing Florida transgender healthcare.
