PrEP & PEP
Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) is a medication taken to prevent HIV. When taken properly, PrEP is highly effective for preventing HIV transmission.
PEP (post-exposure prophylaxis) is taken after being potentially exposed to HIV to prevent becoming infected and must be started within 72 hours after a recent possible exposure to HIV.
